Wow; a 14 hour day with three ceremonies (Chinese Tea Ceremony, a Lao ceremony, and an outdoor ceremony). If there was doubt in anyone's mind, these two are definitely married!
Three ceremonies = three outfits. And it means a lot more than three symbols and meanings to try to explain. So instead of giving you all the details I'll give you a quick run down of the day…
The first bit, the door games, are when Joe and his groomsmen must complete some harrowing tasks to be allowed into to see Vinvia (basically winner her heart and honor – and the right to marry her). The Chinese Tea ceremony took place at Vinvia's childhood home and includes a lot of blessings and gifts and respect for the family members present. That was followed by the Lao ceremony back at Joe's place, which again was filled with blessings and gifts and respect for the family present (a theme for the day and their lives!) The final ceremony was an outdoor ceremony at Grant Park. All of that followed by a fantastic reception and party.
It was a long day but in not at all in a bad way. It was a long beautiful day and I hope that it's reflective of their life together; long, beautiful, full of family, friends and hospitality to everyone.
